As any woman knows, finding pants that are comfortable and fit well can be a challenge. It’s even more difficult when it comes to tactical pants in the uniform industry, where many manufacturers’ “women’s fit” is only a slight modification of the men’s version.
Fortunately, the situation is improving as manufacturers are offering more options and fits. Let’s look at two women’s tactical pants from leading brands, Tru-Spec and Propper.
Tru-Spec 24-7 Series Ladies Pant
One of the primary complaints of women’s tactical pants is that the rise is too high. Tru-Spec 24-7 Series has addressed that issue, with the rise falling just above the hips.
A slider waistband, rather than a gathered elastic waistband found on other tactical pants, reduces bulk.
A blended fabric (65% polyester/35% cotton)makes the pant lightweight but substantial, allowing it to be worn year-round.
Overall, this pant has a flattering, modern cut that works on most body types. They are not baggy, and instead have strategically placed angles, pockets and seams that actually make this pantslimming.
There is no shortage of pockets, with a total of 14. You’ll find two knife pockets on the sides of the back pockets. Cargo pockets feature extra compartments for convenience.
Propper Women’s Tactical Trousers
The rise on Propper’s Women’s Tactical Trousers is a bit higher, falling at the natural waist near the navel. You’ll likely still find these pants comfortable, even if you typically prefer a lower rise.
An internal elastic waistband is comfortable, not too tight like some others.
The pants come in a heavy 8.5-ounce canvas that is 65% polyester/35% cotton. This makes them sturdy and resistant to fading, wrinkling and shrinking.
