Whether working in a warehouse environment or repairing a pothole on a highway, thousands of workers are exposed to potentially harmful working conditions every day. It is essential that these workers always be visable to avoid serious or fatal injuries on the job.
ServiceWear Apparel wants to ensure that these employees are noticed and stay safe. We offer a variety of Hi-Visibility and Enhanced Visibility apparel products by Red Kap and other major brands, which meet American National Standard Institute (ANSI) standards, keeping workers not only compliant, but more important, safe.
There have been recent changes to the ANSI standards that include a reclassification of Classes 1, 2 and 3 to Types O and R. Also, ANSI has made changes to labeling requirements and made an allowance for smaller garments. (See below for full details on the changes.)
While the new ANSI standards don’t affect all departments, most agencies have a number of employees in the following classifications:
- Parking and Service Workers
- Warehouse Employees
- Forestry Operations
- Roadway Employees
- Utility and Water Employees
- School Crossing Guards
- Delivery Vehicle Operators
- Airport Ground Crews
- Trash Collection Employees
ServiceWear Apparel prides itself in not only assisting agencies in keeping employees compliant, but more importantly…safe.
Let us help you provide the best in workwear for your employees.

RECENT CHANGES TO THE ANSI STANDARD
1. ANSI/ISEA 107 and ANSI/ISEA 207 have been combined into ANSI/ISEA 107-2015
- ANSI/ISEA 107 and ANSI/ISEA 207, American National Standard for High-Visibility Public Safety Vests, were merged to form a single document, ANSI/ISEA 107-2015. This new consolidated standard covers the needs of workers in all industries for high visibility garments as well as synchronizes the revision schedules for these two previously separate documents.
2. Allowance for small sized garments
- Garment performance classes are defined by minimum area requirements for both background material and retroreflective striping. Prior minimum requirements for background fabric prevented manufacturers from offering a true small-sized garment. The 2015 edition of ANSI/ISEA 107 includes a reduction in the minimum requirement for background fabric in only the smallest size garment offered by a manufacturer. This change will make small sized garments available to workers who previously were forced to wear garments that were too large for them in order to be compliant with the standard.
3. There has been an addition of garment types (O, R, and P) which address a wider range of occupations that should be in high visibility safety apparel.
4. New Labeling Requirements
- In addition to garment brand, size and care instructions, labels must carry these elements:
- Must contain pictogram showing:
- Garment Type (O, R or P)
- Garment Performance Class
- If the garment is not FR, must state “This garment is not flame resistant as defined by ANSI/ISEA 107-2015 Sections 10.5″
- Must include the maximum number of launderings for the finished item.
